Position: Trade Servicing Specialist / Trade Document Examiner
Location: Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN
Setting: Remote. However, CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL to one of the cities listed above.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 4:15pm
Contract Length: 6 months
Job Summary:
Performs technical transaction processing related to examining and paying standby and export letters of credit, including reviewing and releasing transactions for other document specialists. Provides high-level customer service with particular emphasis on processing documents promptly and without exposure to the bank. Facilitates international trade transactions related to Commodity Credit Corporation programs.
Essential Functions:
1. Reviews letters of credit issued by foreign correspondent banks and interprets requirements. Resolves inconsistencies with the issuers and advises beneficiaries on alternatives. Enters information in the letter of credit system and provides the customer with formal advice.
2. Examines commercial documents for accuracy and compliance with the letter of credit terms and conditions.
3. Resolves discrepancies with customers, including offering alternatives for facilitating payments.
4. Examines documentation for compliance with USDA programs and policies and submits required documents and reports to government agencies.
5. Processes payments under letters of credit and bankers' acceptances.
6. Responds to customers' routine inquiries about technical questions regarding document preparation and/or the mechanics of government programs.
7. Initiates loan advances for Trade Services-related transactions.
8. Accepts, secures, and monitors loan documentation.
9. Approves and releases transactions for section team members.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Trade Services Operations experience
- HS Diploma/GED – required; BA/BS (i.e., International Business) preferred, but not required
- Experience with Document Examination (Commercial Letters of Credits, Standby LCs, GSMs)
- Experience with Trade Services Transaction Servicing (i.e., Reconciliation, Direct Collections, Supply Chain)
- Technologically savvy (experience with systems such as GTS, TradeSun, MS365 Products)
- Team Player/Collaborator
- Strong critical thinking and detail-oriented
- Strong Communicator (verbal/written)
- CDCS is a plus, but is not required
