Job Summary
A Trade Compliance Associate, entry-level, ensures a company's adherence to import and export regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing trade documents, classifying goods, monitoring compliance, and assisting with audits. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating compliant international trade operations.
The Trade Compliance Associate, entry level, will report to the Sr. Trade Compliance Manager / Empowered Official and provide direct support with processing commercial invoices, filing Electronic Export Information (EEI), maintaining required records per record-keeping requirements, conducting internal audits of records.
Training will be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support functions of the Trade Compliance Office in administering an effective Trade Compliance program to ensure company's conformance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Support and assist with generation of commercial invoices.
- File Electronic Export Information (EEI).
- Assist in internal export compliance audits, risk assessments, and process improvement plans.
- Maintain all required export/import documentation.
- Analyze potential export compliance issues.
- Train employees in proper handling of export-controlled hardware and technical data as well as provides training related to specific export authorizations.
- Analyze and interpret export and import regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of the regulatory updates.
- Draft, process, and track export license application packages (DECCS and SNAP-R).
- Support and assist with processing of temporary and permanent imports.
Basic Employment Requirements
- General knowledge and understanding of ITAR, EAR, AES is a plus
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule / Schedule B is a plus.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Preparation of international shipping documentation is a plus.
- Working experience in a law office environment is a plus.
Education and/or Experience
- BA/BS degree or relevant work experience is required.
