HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Sr. Export Compliance Specialist supports the business segment by managing trade compliance risk assessments, driving corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement of the export compliance program to ensure adherence to U.S. trade rules and regulations.
This is an in-office position based near Rochester, NY or Melbourne, FL.
EXPECTATIONS
- Lead trade compliance investigations involving ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and Customs matters
- Review compliance incidents and develop incident work plans
- Conduct audit and risk assessment, including interviews and data analysis
- Analyze findings and compile clear, well-documented investigation reports and narratives
- Support root cause analysis and identify, track, and validate corrective actions
- Leverage strong PM skills to manage multiple investigations, disclosures, and notifications
- Collaborate cross-functionally to advance investigations and compliance initiatives
- Support continuous improvement of the export compliance program and internal controls
- Prepare management reports and compliance metrics related to investigations and corrective actions
ESSENTIALS
- 6-10 years’ experience in export compliance, defense and aerospace industry a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated investigative experience involving ITAR, EAR, FTR, OFAC, and Customs regulations
- In-depth knowledge of export controls, licenses, and import regulations
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines independently
- Strong data analytic skills with attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Excellent technical, legal, and analytical writing skills
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively collaborating with others
