Job Title: Logistics Compliance Specialist
Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the implementation of end-to-end trade compliance and tariff-related activities under the guidance of Logistics and the Trade Compliance function. The key responsibility of this role is to support the implementation of efficient and effective processes for import / export transactions in alignment with U.S. Government laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies. Responsibilities also include communication with external U.S. Customs Brokers / Freight Forwarders as well as participation in cross-functional work teams.
Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility
- Monitor changes to the U.S. Customs Regulations (19CFR), the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. and other relevant trade regulations.
- Assign and Maintain accurate HTS code classification and country of origin determination for all imported/exported products.
- Understand and apply U.S. Customs Valuation methods.
- Support analysis of tariff exposure and report duty spend across product lines.
- Support compliance with all U.S. import/export regulations (CBP, ITAR, EAR).
- Support the implementation of Customs programs such as Duty Drawback, Temporary Import Bonds, etc.
- Act as liaison with customs brokers, freight forwarders, for providing pre-clearance instructions and shipping instructions .
- Support ERP integration of trade compliance data (e.g., SAP material master).
- Support internal audits and documentation which includes pre and post CBP entry reviews.
- Provide reporting on trade compliance metrics and duty exposure.
- Support the development of SOPs and training for cross-functional teams on import/export processes.
Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, related field. Or equivalent education and 5+ years’ experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business or related field
- 3+ years in trade compliance, customs, or international logistics.
- In depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and Foreign Trade Regulations
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation methods, country of origin determination, and Customs programs such as Duty Drawback, Temporary Import Bonds, Foreign Trade Zones, etc.
- Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Sanctions Programs,
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
- Experience with Trade Automation / SW solutions.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (a plus).
- Experience with duty drawback, FTZs, or CTPAT.
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or high-tech industry.
- Ability to motivate and initiate change.
