HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Director of Trade Compliance is responsible for overseeing trade compliance across multiple manufacturing plants within a business division, ensuring that all trade activity is compliant with import and export regulations including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and CBP.
This is an remote position with 30-40% travel.
Candidates can be based near Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Tulsa, Philadelphia or New York. Relocation assistance is available.
EXPECTATIONS

Provide export guidance on complex trade compliance matters including product classification
- Lead internal audits, create remediation plans, and drive corrective actions to closure
- Oversee export license preparation and submission through DECCS and SNAP-R
- Manage export shipment EEI filing in ACE
- Collaborate with legal partners on investigations, risk assessments, and agency reporting
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to site leadership and compliance teams
- Maintain and mature the trade compliance program to ensure consistency and compliance
- Build and develop trade compliance teams providing mentorship and training
- Maintain relationships with government agencies, customs brokers, and freight forwarders
ESSENTIALS
- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years of trade compliance experience with success building enterprise programs
- Deep expertise across ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and CBP regulatory regimes
- Understanding of regulations; HTS/ECCN classification, Country of Origin, valuation, FTA, etc.
- Experience with DECCS and SNAP-R export licensing portals
- Proven ability to advise senior leadership on compliance strategy and risk
- Strong leadership, communication, and attention to detail skills
- Must be a U.S. Person
