Position Summary: 

The Contracts & Trade Compliance Leader is a supervisory leadership role responsible for overseeing commercial contracts and global trade compliance activities for a commercial aerospace manufacturing business. This position ensures compliance with applicable trade regulations while managing customer, supplier, and aftermarket agreements. The role leads a team of professionals and partners closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Programs to handle risk, support global operations, and enable compliant business growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership & Functional Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for contracts administration and trade compliance activities.
  • Lead the contract review process, and facilitate compliant and efficient workflow through the required functions across the business.
  • Set functional priorities, performance goals, and standard work to support production and program requirements.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters.
  • Lead continuous improvement and problem solving for the commercial team

 

Contracts Management

  • Ensure contracts align with company policies, commercial risk tolerance, and customer requirements.
  • Support contract activities related to new program launches, production ramp-ups, and aftermarket services.
  • Standardize contract templates and approval processes to drive efficiency and consistency.
  • Advise leadership and cross-functional teams on contract interpretation, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies.

Trade Compliance

  • Direct the company’s trade compliance program in accordance with U.S. and international regulations, including EAR, OFAC, and customs requirements applicable to commercial aerospace products.
  • Oversee product, technology, and software export classifications.
  • Ensure proper export licensing, denied party screening, and trade documentation processes are in place.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on global manufacturing, supply chain, and customer operations
  • Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions related to trade compliance.
  • Act as primary liaison with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and external advisors.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training

  • Partner with Sales, Programs, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to support compliant commercial execution.
  • Develop and deliver training on contracts and trade compliance tailored to commercial aerospace operations.
  • Develop system to track adherence to SOW’s and change management for SOW’s.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and accountability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, cross functional leadership, or people-management experience.
  • Experience supporting global customers and international supply chains.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in contracts management and/or trade compliance within manufacturing or aerospace.
  • Strong working knowledge of EAR, OFAC, USML, and U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Export Compliance Certification (ECoP)
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) framework.
